Large hydrogen plant opened near Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant

One of the world's largest hydrogen fuel plants is open in Fukushima Prefecture, according to Nikkei Asian Review. The new enterprise is located in Namie settlement, located near Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant. Daily, the station will produce enough fuel to refuel 560 vehicles. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took part in the opening ceremony of the plant. The project was created with the participation of Toshiba, Tohoku Electric Power, Iwatani and the government. The cost of the project was about $189 million. The new enterprise will be engaged not only in the production of hydrogen fuel, but also in research and development in this field. To supply the plant with electricity, a solar power plant will be used, the panels of which are located on an area of 180 thousand square kilometers in Fukushima prefecture. As previously reported by the news agency, in late February South Korean company Hyundai delivered to Switzerland the first batch of 50 trucks on hydrogen fuel.
