Iran calls for long-term ties with Brazil

On 6 May, the Iranian Ambassador to Brazil called for the development of economic relations with Brazil in the long term on the basis of institutionalization, diversification and balance of bilateral trade ties. This was reported by the Iranian agency IRNA. In a meeting with Brazilian Vice President Hamilton Mourau, Iranian Ambassador Hossein Garibi stressed Brazil's significant position for Iran as a new economic power and a member of the BRICS group. He also noted the need to maintain and develop economic and political relations between the two countries. Speaking about the complementarity of Iran and Brazil and the need to rebuild the economies of the two countries after overcoming the coronavirus crisis, he called for a plan to further deepen bilateral ties. In turn, Mourau stressed the importance of preparing for geopolitical changes in the international arena after eliminating the threat of COVID-19. Stressing Iran's important position in the world, he described Iran as one of the most ancient cultures in the world.
