Lower House of Congress approves state status for US capital
The US House of Representatives praised the initiative to give the American capital state status. Voting on this issue took place in the lower house of Congress today, June 26. 232 deputies of the lower house voted in favor of giving Washington (the capital of the United States) the status of a separate state, 180 opposed. As previously reported by the news agency, on the eve of June 25, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the upcoming vote in Congress on the above topic. If this decision, which was approved by the lower house, is made by both the upper (where the majority are Republicans) and then the president of the country, the 51st state will appear in the United States. The Democrats initiated the bill.
