Armenian President imposes restrictions on broadcasting of Russian TV channels


Restrictions on the broadcasting of Russian television channels were introduced by the Armenian authorities, the press service of the president of this country Armen Sargsyan reported on August 5. On August 5, Sargsyan signed the Law on Audiovisual Media, which will enter into force on August 15, 2020. The law also introduces restrictions for broadcasting television channels in several other countries. Recall that the National Assembly of Armenia adopted this law on July 16. Under the new law, foreign audiovisual programs in Armenia are allowed to be relayed without a license through public multiplex (a set of television and radio broadcasting channels transmitted on one digital channel) only on the basis of an interstate contract.
