Is Abe sick?
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe performs a one-day medical examination on August 17, Kyodo news agency reports. Abe's visit to the hospital comes after statesman Akira Amari said in a television show that the prime minister needs a rest. The 65-year-old prime minister undergoes regular medical examinations every 6 months. The last was June 13th. However, according to a hospital employee, an additional examination was required. More than 50 correspondents from different media gathered near the hospital when Abe arrived there. This concern is caused by the fact that in early August, a weekly magazine reported a sharp deterioration in the health of the Prime Minister. Recall that in 2007, after the first year as prime minister, Shinzo Abe was forced to resign due to an intestinal disease. Then he was hospitalized the day after the announcement of his intention to leave. Now the opposition parties and the Japanese media are closely monitoring the health of the head of state. It is noted that recently Abe did not show special political activity and appeared only at press conferences held on solemn occasions. Some opposition deputies say that if Abe's health deteriorates, he should be replaced immediately, because there should be no political vacuum in the country while fighting the virus.
