Kosovo Tribunal invites UCC crime victims to testify

On 24 September, the Special Tribunal for Kosovo in The Hague stated that victims of UCC crimes (albeit, Kosovo Liberation Army, which is being investigated by the tribunal) could begin to submit applications for future trials as soon as indictments were confirmed and published. The head of the tribunal, Ekaterina Trendafilova, emphasized that justice is impossible if those who suffered as a result of crimes are forgotten. Persons who can prove that they have personally suffered physical, moral or material damage as a result of the crimes committed by the accused may take part in the trial. If approved by the tribunal, the person will be granted victim status, which implies the provision of protection. The office responsible for the participation of victims in the trial is responsible for ensuring the safety and confidentiality of victims. Recall, on September 24, the Special Tribunal for the first time confirmed the accusation against former UChC fighter Salih Mustafa.
